Day 4 - A photo of the last place you went on holiday

Quebec City!!!

It was soooo cold the weekend we were in Quebec City! Well maybe it wasn't too terribly cold, but around  +/-0! We just weren't quite ready for that kind of cold in October! We had lots of fun nonetheless!

Day 3 - A photo that makes you happy

I actually had a tough time finding a picture of something that makes me happy... weird! I guess it was just putting my finger on one specific thing. So I ended up picking this sunflower picture that Simon snuck and took in the summer and got blown up and framed for me for our anniversary. This is in a sunflower field in the "experimental farm" area of Ottawa. It's weird all the sudden in the middle of the city (ish) are these huge fields of "experiments", including a large field of sunflowers!! I always loved driving past :)

In other news... we got our Christmas tree last night!!! We went to Loblaws to get it, and theirs are really nice, but all of them are $40... a bit more than we wanted to spend this year. I thought of mom though cause there were some small-ish ones and some huge "fluffy" tall ones, that I thought my mom would have bought when I was growing up. It was hard to believe that the small ones and the huge ones were all $40! Anyways, we went to Ikea because we've always said getting a tree there would be a good idea. So the tree was $20 and then we got a $20 gift certificate to spend at Ikea in January.. I don't know if we'll use it, but essentially we got a free Christmas tree! This picture would also be something that makes me happy :) Simon's family has always been really crazy for Christmas/decorating etc., and I think that through Simon it's rubbed off on me :) I do love Christmas baking! Although, this year I've made sugar cookies, ginger snaps and "slice-and-bake" cookies and they're all gone already... I make a batch then we eat them... I'm hoping that when school is finished for the semester (next week!!!) I can bake so much that we can't possibly eat it all before Christmas (Is that a challenge...?)

Day 2 - A photo of yourself a year ago

This is me roughly a year ago when the Olympic Torch was in Ottawa. Simon and I met at Parliament after work to catch the end of the festivities and take some pictures. It made us miss home, but I think we're better now :) I haven't changed much.. shorter hair maybe...

Day 1 - A photo of yourself with ten facts (about me?)

Ten Facts about me..

1. I love to cook and bake, I try and make something new every week! Lately it's been what I like to call "Risotto Mondays"!

2. I don't eat beef, yuck, haven't for over 10 years

3. I am a kinda messy person... I currently have a pile of clothes to be put away at the end of the bed, my desk is covered in school and crafting stuff, the dining room table and my hope chest have my fancy dishes on them from thanksgiving still (!), but my I cannot stand a messy kitchen (for long at least)!

4.  My favourite colours are burnt orange, burgundy and purple!

5. I like to read, especially if it's not for school! Simon bought me 7 books for my birthday roughly a month ago, and I've read 4 already! (one being a 650 pager!)

6. I love recycling, well maybe not love, but I very dislike when other people don't do it!

7. One more semester (and a few days) and I get to graduate again!

8. I have been married for 4.5 years! This usually shocks people and I get responses such as "but you look like you're 18!"

9. I like fashion... clothes and shoes etc., but  I'm generally more concerned with being comfortable.

10. Waking up early for me is anytime before 9am! I was lucky this semester not to have any classes before 11:30am!!! Not so lucky next semester!

Until tomorrow...

It now looks like winter!

It's been really cold off an on lately.. so it'll be -5 (-10 with wind) one day and then up to +6 the next! Because of that (I'm assuming) we have "freezing rain".. which doesn't make a whole lot of sense as a term if you ask me!

Anyways here's some pictures of what it looked like when I woke up! It was sunny and everything was sparkly cause of the ice, but by the time I had breakfast and took pictures its clouded over, at least in the front of the house!

Can you see the ice coating the branches? It looks really pretty, but probably isn't very good for the trees! I hope they're hibernating already!

On another note, the other day when I was walking through the park to the bus "they" were putting up the ice rink in the park! We didn't get a chance to see it last year cause by the time we moved in here everything was starting to melt, but apparently there is a skating rink made in the park over the winter! And also this year they're getting lights for the park/rink! I'll take some more/better pictures later when I take my camera out with me!

Something yet nothing

Today Simon and I put up the Christmas lights! Simon did most of the work but I was there making sure he didn't fall off the ladder!

I feel like I did nothing today, but that's probably just cause I didn't really do any homework.. uhoh! I made some cookies and traded some of them for an egg from Sophie; I made muffins, with the egg from Sophie; Simon and I also did the dishes and washed the kitchen floor together!

Now time to sit on the couch and watch the amazing race and maybe get some bits of homework done on the commercials!

Maybe I'll get more homework done tomorrow...
hehe!
